Happy NYE!
December just seems to fly by… This year I definitely got a late start, but it still seemed like between decorating, shopping, Christmas parties, family in town, it’s just a whirlwind of activity. My resolution for 2011 is to enjoy December by planning ahead better this coming year. Then, I can enjoy every moment of the holiday season because it’s definitely my favorite time of year!!
My husband, Jeremy and I got married last year. With the goal to start our own traditions together (and the need to improve our selection of ornaments on the tree), we decided to give each other an ornament each year. Here’s a quick look at the 2009 and 2010 ornaments that I gave him… handmade, of course.
PS – With the craziness this year, Jeremy actually got his 2010 ornament from me today, but next year I’ll have in done in November!!
2010: Jeremy, Me & Leia (the puggle pup!)
The border of the “Leia” side of the ornament captures our major events of 2010… I’m sure it will be fun to look back on one way…

Looking forward to 2011!
Hello!!
Thank you to all my wonderful friends and family that have supported me throughout the launch and first year of Embellish Creative Designs! From my Ladies Who Launch incubator group that really gave me the gentle push and confidence I needed to get started last January… to my amazing “sister company” and super star graphic and web designer that put up with my “one-more-last-minute-change”… to brainstorming company names with mom and Lauren (I still like Glued! hehe)… to endless discussions with my amazing husband about ideas, product lines, finances, new ideas, did I mention — more ideas… to all my friends and family that offered to help me cut & glue this holiday season in return for wine… I am truly thankful for the support of those around me. And, the business referrals — thank you!!!
2010 was a very exciting year. I joke about how the theme of 2010 was “Well… I learned A LOT from that.” In all seriousness, I DID learn a lot this year. Sometimes I forget to take the time to celebrate the small accomplishments. From learning to set up a business, to balancing design time and business time, navigating the world of social media, trying to figure out when to charge taxes to pay taxes (fun fun!), determining the best pricing strategy and marketing efforts — I’ve learned a lot… and I’m STILL continuing to learn. Reflecting on 2010, it’s been a year of planning to help set up Embellish for success in 2011.
Looking toward 2011, we will begin offering public classes at the local Michaels store and private classes / “moms nights out” at nearby schools. We also plan to have starter kits and page kits available for those DIYers out there. Pre-made albums were the “hot item” this holiday season. Expect to see more 6×6, 20-page pre-made albums available on the Etsy Embellish Shop, as well. Of course, we will continue to offer Embellish basic and premium customized albums.
To kick off 2011, our blog has been re-designed as we are off to a fresh start! Keep an eye out for more posts including DIY projects, new Embellish products and Featured Partners. I’d LOVE for your to subscribe and check back for new info! (PS – For a sneak peak of my scribbles around the vision for this site, check out the photo below! And, more thank yous — thanks to the hubby to actually implementing the vision!)
Thanks again for a great first year — Looking forward to 2011!
Becky
